Can The Youths Take Care of Indonesia?

Young people taking care of Indonesia? Can it be done?

Many roles can be taken by youths in building Indonesia for the better. That was the topic that was delivered four great sources in leadership talk titled “Taking Care of Indonesia, What Can the Youths Do?”. The event took place at the Soemarto Hall of the Faculty of Public Health Airlangga University, Surabaya, Saturday (17/2/2018).

The leadership talk discusses some roles and strategies that young people need to know to be able to care for Indonesia. The first step is to improve and become a leader for themselves. Specifically, the youthss must know about who they are, what his life goals, vision of his mission, and future plans. That way, a clear direction of life will be formed and the foundation of a strong self despite being forged problems that come and go.

Furthermore, the desire and ability to contribute in society must be owned and embedded in the minds and hearts of the youths. Identification of local community issues is important to determine what roles and strategies to use in order to solve the problem even slightly. That is why, youths should be sensitive to the problems faced by society, at least in the surrounding environment. The trick, the youths must go directly to the community. To mingle with the community, youths must be unpretentious by releasing their identity or background as academics and campus activists.

Furthermore, youths can interact directly with the community and read the problems they are experiencing. After that, identifying the problem by mapping out all the factors that affect it becomes an important point to be understood.

Like a doctor who misdiagnoses a disease, then it will have an impact on giving the wrong drug to the patient. Not to forget, youths can measure how far the resources available to solve existing problems.

There are four levels of leaders according to John C Maxwell that can be reflected on the basic leadership, favor, productivity, developing others and the peak of leadership. At the basic leadership stage, people want to follow because of the inherent position that followed.

Higher favor because it has been following because of the will in themselves. At the productivity stage, people follow because of the contribution that their leader has made. The top level, the leader is followed because of its identity and what it represents.

Through the talk show, participants are expected to know the role and strategy in caring for Indonesia. More importantly, they can apply it in everyday life. It also becomes a solution for those who get lost in the comfort zone as a student. The target of the talkshow is that participants can design their vision and mission to make Indonesia a developed country.
